Snowflake Obsidian adds additional properties of balance to the grounding and shielding properties of regular obsidian. Snowflake obsidian is made of volcanic glass with tiny clusters of needle-shaped cristobalite, a type of quartz, called spherulites. The spherulites vary in size and density, creating unique patterns. Snowflake obsidian forms when lava cools rapidly, trapping microscopic crystals within the glass.
