Iron pyrite has a yellow metallic luster that gives it the nickname fool's gold. It is most often found alongside quartz, in coal beds, and as a replacement mineral in fossils. Ironically, despite the nickname, pyrite can sometimes contain actual gold, usually called “invisible gold,” inside the crystalline structure.
