A mala is a strand of beads (traditionally 108 with a larger Guru bead) used for keeping count and staying present during meditation. A mala can be used for meditation, worn as a necklace, or wrapped around your wrist several times. It is a tool for focusing your awareness and concentration during your meditation practice.
